How we count a trial
Short answer

As of September 2026, the FDA and the EMA have not approved Epitalon for any use, and no controlled human trial of it has been published. Nearly all the evidence comes from animals, cell cultures and computer models. It circulates mainly as an unregulated research peptide. So nobody can tell you what it does in people, or what is in a given vial.

What is Epitalon?

Epitalon is a very short chain of four amino acids. Russian researchers Vladimir Khavinson and Vladimir Anisimov designed it in the 1970s and 1980s, based on the makeup of Epithalamin, an extract from the pineal gland. It circulates mainly as an unregulated research peptide.

Does Epitalon work?

Nobody knows. No controlled human trial has been published, and nearly all the evidence comes from animals, cell cultures and computer models.

What we found. 0 completed randomized trials. 0 human studies on the list. 1 set of animal studies, 1 cell study and 1 review from 2025.

How we count a trial

Is Epitalon safe?

Nobody knows. The record reports a total absence of human data on safety and on long-term effects. The animal studies on this record looked at lifespan and tumors in rodents, and the record lists no safety study among them. That leaves the safety of the compound itself unmeasured in people. The vial adds its own unknown, covered below.

What is in a vial sold as Epitalon?

Epitalon circulates mainly as an unregulated research peptide. None of the studies above tested a vial sold under this name, and no controlled human trial of Epitalon has been published. A "research use only" label guarantees nothing about purity. A certificate of analysis counts only if it names your lot number, a lab with no stake in the result, and the method used. Purity and identity are separate tests.

Three questions to ask the seller:

  1. Which lot number is this certificate for?
  2. Who ran the test, and are they independent of you?
  3. Does the report confirm identity by mass spectrometry, or purity alone?

What don't we know?

  • Whether it does anything in people. No controlled human trial has been published.
  • Whether it is safe in people, short term or long term. Human safety data are absent.
  • Whether the lifespan findings in rodents and the cell findings carry over to people.
  • What is in any given vial sold as Epitalon.

The other side

A personal result is real to the person who had it. It cannot tell the compound apart from the vial, or from everything else that changed over the same time.

What would change this record?

  • A registered, peer-reviewed Phase 1 trial in people that checks basic safety and how the body handles the compound.

More questions about Epitalon

Is Epitalon approved by the FDA?

No. Epitalon is not approved by the FDA or the EMA for any use.

Has Epitalon been tested in humans?

Not in any published controlled trial. A 2025 scientific review found essentially no human clinical trial evidence. The work was done almost entirely in cell cultures, fruit flies, rodents and primates.

Is Epitalon the same as Epithalamin?

No. Epithalamin is an extract from the pineal gland. Epitalon is a four-amino-acid peptide designed on the basis of that extract's makeup.

Does Epitalon extend lifespan?

In people, nobody knows. Early animal studies reported longer lifespan in rodent models of aging. No controlled human trial has been published.

Is Epitalon banned in sport?

It is not named on WADA's list. That is not clearance.
