As of September 2026, the FDA and the EMA have not approved kisspeptin-10. Several small controlled human studies found that it stimulates reproductive hormones. Every one was short and run in a research setting. WADA bans it in men in sport. A vial sold to you as kisspeptin-10 was not part of those studies, and you cannot see from the outside what it holds.

What is kisspeptin-10?
Kisspeptin-10 is a ten-amino-acid piece of kisspeptin, a natural hormone the brain uses to trigger reproductive hormones. Kisspeptin was identified through cancer research in the 1990s and 2000s, before its role in puberty and fertility was recognized. Since around 2011, researchers have run small human studies of kisspeptin-10, notably at Imperial College London.
Does kisspeptin-10 work?
As a treatment, nobody knows. Small studies found that it stimulates reproductive hormones, and no large, long-term trial has tested it for any medical use.
What we found. 4 completed randomized trials counted on the record. The list below holds 4 human studies, and one of them is marked observational. The record's text calls the studies small and controlled.
| Study | Tested in | Status | What it shows |
|---|---|---|---|
| "Kisspeptin-10 is a potent stimulator of LH in men" | People | Completed | In healthy men given a continuous supply of kisspeptin-10, LH pulsed more often. LH is a reproductive hormone |
| "Effects of kisspeptin-10 show sexual dimorphism in humans" | People | Completed | Men and women given kisspeptin-10 showed different hormone response patterns |
| "Kisspeptin stimulates reproductive hormones but does not affect anxiety" | People | Completed, 2025 | Confirmed the hormone-stimulating effect. Found no measurable effect on anxiety measures |
| "Spontaneous endogenous pulsatile kisspeptin release coupled with LH" | People | Completed. Observational | Natural kisspeptin pulses were linked in time to LH pulses in the menstrual cycle |
The record describes all of these as small, short studies of how the body responds, run in research settings.
How we count a trialIs kisspeptin-10 safe?
Nobody knows over the long term. Every human study so far was small and short, and the record reports no safety findings from them. No large, long-term safety trial exists. No animal safety study appears on this record. All of that happened in research settings. A vial sold under the same name is another matter, and the next section covers it.
Is kisspeptin-10 legal?
- United States
- Not approved by the FDA. Several small controlled human studies exist, and no trial program aimed at approval.
- European Union
- No EMA marketing authorisation.
- Sport
- Banned in men at all times. WADA's 2026 Prohibited List names kisspeptin and its agonist analogues in class S2, among the testosterone-stimulating peptides in males.
Not medical advice. Approval and sport status as of . Medical disclaimer
What is in a vial sold as kisspeptin-10?
The human studies took place in research settings, with healthy volunteers and with patients. This record holds no sign that kisspeptin-10 is sold to the public. If a vial sold under that name reached you, none of those studies tested it, and the checklist lists what to ask the seller.
What don't we know?
- Whether it is safe over the long term. No large, long-term safety trial exists.
- Whether it helps in any medical condition. No large, long-term trial of benefit exists.
- Whether the hormone effect holds up over time. Every human study so far was short.
- What is in any given vial.
The other side
The human studies here are legitimate. Researchers, notably at Imperial College London, have given kisspeptin-10 to people, and the record says it reliably stimulates hormone pulses. Those studies were small and short. A larger, longer trial is what stands between that finding and any path to approval.
What would change this record?
- A larger registered Phase 2 or Phase 3 trial with long-term safety follow-up.
Change log
- Sport status corrected from "Monitored" to "Banned in men". WADA's 2026 Prohibited List names kisspeptin and its agonist analogues in class S2.

More questions about kisspeptin-10
Is kisspeptin-10 FDA approved?
- No. The FDA has not approved it, and it has no EMA marketing authorisation.
Has kisspeptin-10 been tested in humans?
- Yes, in several small controlled studies since around 2011. They found that it stimulates reproductive hormones. All were short and run in research settings.
What is kisspeptin-10 used for?
- It has no use approved by the FDA or the EMA. The record calls it investigational. Researchers have given it to healthy volunteers and to patients with reproductive hormone disorders in small studies.
Is kisspeptin-10 banned in sport?
- In men, yes. WADA's 2026 Prohibited List names kisspeptin and its agonist analogues in class S2, among the testosterone-stimulating peptides in males. If you compete, check the current List.
Is kisspeptin-10 the same as kisspeptin?
- No. Kisspeptin-10 is a ten-amino-acid piece of kisspeptin, the natural hormone. The record also lists metastin 45-54 as another name for kisspeptin-10.
